A New Chapter for Lake Dental
If you’ve visited Lake Dental on London Road recently, you may have noticed a new face. Dr. Zach Hutchins has taken over the practice from Dr. LaCosse, and he’s excited to get to know every patient who walks through our doors.
Here’s a little about who he is, why he became a dentist, and what you can expect at your next visit.
Dentist Who Started as a Patient
Dr. Zach’s path to dentistry began with an accident: he broke both of his top front teeth in half. He’d always had a gap between those teeth, so he saw a chance to fix it.
His dentist took impressions to design new teeth. Dr. Zach brought in his own drawings of how he wanted them to look and asked if he could sculpt them himself. His dentist helped him through the process.
That was the moment he knew he wanted to be a dentist. As he puts it, dentistry is “the perfect combination of science and art.”
Education and Background
Dr. Zach was born in Utah and raised in Southern California. He started college at BYU-Idaho as an art major before switching to Human Biology, then earned his dental degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California.
Before coming to Lake Dental, he practiced in Isanti, Minnesota. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and stays current with the latest advancements in dentistry through ongoing education and training.

Life Outside the Office
When he’s not with his wife and children, you’ll probably find him building with LEGO® or making something with his hands. He also enjoys spending time with friends and exploring all that northern Minnesota has to offer.
